Psychology Professor: M.S., Ph.D.- Educational Psychology
I am a psychology professor and have been teaching college for over 20 years. I teach courses in developmental, educational, and social psychology, as well as a course on health coaching. Physical activity has been an important part of my life since my early 20s when I started my adventure into fitness and wellness.
Health Coach: NBC-HWC
I’ve been a certified health coach since 2015 and recently earned a nationally recognized credential through the National Board of Health & Wellness Coaches after completing an NBHWC-approved training program offered by the Mayo Clinic.
Personal Trainer & Group Fitness Instructor: ACE, NPTI
I’ve been a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise and the National Personal Training Institute since 2020 and work part-time as a strength and conditioning coach. In October 2020, I designed programming that caters to endurance athletes.
In 2024, I became a certified group fitness instructor through the American Council on Exercise. This credential allows me to design and teach my own movement-based classes (e.g., spin, cardio kickboxing, weight-based classes, etc.).
Athlete
Since my early 20s, I’ve participated in over 60 running, cycling, and multi-sport events. I’ve run distances ranging from 5ks to 100ks. For a list of my races and strength meets, click here.
In 2019, I began lifting weights consistently and saw major physical changes and improvements in my running as well as my overall body composition. In 2020, I competed in my first (of 5) Strongman events and went on to pursue powerlifting in 2022.
While I’m pretty hooked on strength sports, I still have a passion for helping those who want to pursue endurance sports. Having rehabbed my own body from overuse injuries caused by running, I recognize just how valuable lifting weights can be to augmenting training protocols for running, cycling, and swimming.
Whether it be as your personal trainer or your health coach, I can’t wait to be inspired by your process and your progress!

“Awakenings are always terrifying, as they force you to realize that your past has been lived in confinement. The most disturbing part is when you recognize that the shackles holding you down are largely ones you have placed upon yourself."
